On June 23, Laveen’s Reopening of Schools Task Force will provide their recommendations to the Governing Board for the 2020-21 school year. These recommendations are based on results from the recent parent and teacher surveys. The recommendations include the following options:

• Full-Year Online Learning (Laveen Online Academy)
• Flexible Distance Learning (Distance Learning with Transition to On-Site)
• Daily On-Site Learning (Full-Day, Every-Day at School)
• Estrella Foothills Global Academy (Grades K-6)

Since school closures went into effect, Laveen teams have been preparing for the reopening of school in August. We know there are numerous variables to consider in determining what school will look like and that the landscape is constantly changing. We also know that a one-size-fits-all approach is not feasible for our families.

Laveen families are asked to review the three scenarios developed by the task force and provide input. Visit the Reopening of Schools page for details and to take the survey.

The Laveen School District will host a parent workshop on Cyber Safety at 6:00 p.m. on February 11 at Vista del Sur, 3908 W. South Mountain.

The presentation will cover general topics related to social media including sexting, cyber-predators, cyber-bullying, popular apps, and social media websites. The session is being presented by The Office of the Arizona Attorney General and will run 45 minutes.

Middle school students are encouraged to attend with their parents/guardians. There is no charge to attend. This session is open to all Laveen families.
